Redolent of Matsuo Basho's haiku narrative of his journey on a "narrow path to the interior" this will be a journey through my innermost ruminations.

Got the Second Shot

My drove downtown to get my second shot of the vaccine. The nurse warned us that the reaction to the second one was usually worse, apparently because the immune system is primed by the first shot to recognize and attack the antibodies in the intruder. It's been more than hours and I don't feel any different.

In addition the relief at completing the vaccine regimen, visiting an area of the city I hadn't seen for a couple of provided an added benefit. What had in earlier been a hangout for hookers and drug pushers has been gentrifying. The hundred-year- stately brick buildings have come back life and we spotted several promising eating and drinking establishments that we immediately put on our post-covid must-visit list. The supermarket where I got my shot was huge and as well-appointed as a Wegmans, with luxury apartments up above and more apartments over a validated-parking garage right across the street. City living at its finest.

There's life out there, folks, if we can just have the discipline follow Dr. Fauci's guidance.

There's one simple reason to impeach the dumb bastard.

I want the Articles of Impeachment to be sitting on Mitch McConnel's desk by at least Wednesday, not because I think this pusillanimous Republican crowd has the stones to try him now, but so that whatever lunatic treasonous new outrage this traitor commits in his last days in office, all the Senate will have do is call the court to order and lower the boom on him.

In the name of my brother officer Brian Sicknick,
Justice!

Care To Play 20 Questions?
This is a response to Aliljaded's post at this link Care To Play 20 Questions. The selection of topics and some of the wording here is hers.

1. Are you single? I'm poly dominant, currently have partners in two locations, but one is necessarily remote.

2. What style of relationship are you seeking, monogamous, poly, or open? I would prefer a monogamous relationship but I've never been able to create a relationship that didn't leave me wanting more. Partly it's been because of my peripatetic lifestyle, which is now in the rear view mirror.

3. Definitions. I'm not a strict lifestyler. I prefer mind play...which opens up a whole world of possibilities. Many of my practices are derivations of things I learned and experienced in Asia.

4. How long ago was your last lifestyle relationship? I currently have one long distance lifestyle relationship because of covid limitations. My most recent previous real time lifestyle relationship ended two years ago. We still correspond but we just drifted apart.

5. I was in lifestyle-type relationships with submissive women in Asia before I knew what they were.

6. What do you enjoy about the lifestyle? I enjoy exercising control, being able to heighten her need and desire and then satisfy it. Being able to help and inspire her to reach her full potential or at least have a sense of fulfillment.

7. When it comes to lifestyle play, what are your must-haves? I've always enjoyed surreptitious semi-public play, a little humiliation or embarrassment where she is being erotically manipulated with a sometimes unaware audience which keeps her in a heightened state of arousal, culminating in private play.

8. Safewords. I usually don't put her in circumstances that require safewords, but if I do I make sure she knows and is willing to use them.

9. Ask how open are you about the lifestyle? I'm not at all open.

10. Everyone has made horrific mistakes in past relationships. My biggest mistake was going into a relationship before I knew what my and her real desires and limitations were< but since desires and limitations change with experience, I doubt that I could have avoided that mistake.

11. Are you looking for a forever relationship or something shorter? Something shorter. If it is good, it will last longer without my seeking it.

12. Would you be willing to move or would you want me to relocate? I have created an idyllic environment where I am, so I don't intend to move. I have lived extensively abroad and still am a world traveller, however.

13. What are your goals in life? I have achieved all of my goals. I'm looking to relax and enjoy the company of someone who is capable of satisfying me.

14. What about those meddling ? No . Been there, done that.

15. How much alone time do they need? I enjoy small gatherings but not mob scenes. I prefer to be alone a lot, however. That's one of the reasons I have built a mountain retreat with a private lake. I can have the best of the city and the country.

[The last five are indeed what I would call no-brainers but I am including them here because so often in the lifestyle people get lost in the world of spanking, floggers, and kinky fuckery while forgetting relationships happen in real life. There is a ton more than just these five questions but I am adding them here to be a reminder of this.]

16. What do you do for a living? I worked and lived abroad. I'm retired now.

17. What are your hobbies? I love to read, mainly history, biography and either classic or intrigue novels. I canoe, fish and swim in my lake in warm weather and hike in the mountains, bicycle or take walks along rivers, study the stars and enjoy nature. I watch a lot of baseball and some football. I see a lot of oscar-worthy movies when I'm not in the middle of a pandemic. I've become a k-drama fan recently. My profession involved international relations and politics and I still belong to a couple of groups and have associates in those fields. I speak several languages fairly fluently (expertly at one time) and am actively working on restoring my Korean.

18. Share three activities you look forward to sharing with a future partner? Mainly sex with generous doses of discussions of books and movies and time in the mountains or on scenic train trips.

19. Tell me about your family? Two , girl and boy, both grown living nearby.

20. What is your go-to type of music or artist? I have eclectic and changeable tastes. I generally use music to drown out noise and match my mood.

Isolating is tough for extroverts. I'm more of an introvert. I played an extrovert to benefit my career, but I'm solitary and contemplative by nature.

It's difficult to maintain discipline in this environment. Some of us can, some can't and some do a little of both. I fall in the latter category. I'm trying to get into the former. I think I need a new strategy. I try to control the situation. That doesn't work. I took on too many renovation projects before all this started and compounded the problem by trying to moderate my losses and increase my gains in the stock market. That's worked once so far. I'm waiting for the second try to work. The jury is still out. I'm out of practice. I apparently just sold one renovation project for the asking price, so that may be winding down. The new roof is on the cabin. I just need to inspect it and send them a check. I can delay the rest of the cabin projects for a while.

Meanwhile it is still possible to drive out to the river and hike along the canal. Some of the parking lots are closed, but some aren't, and there are few cars or people. On the day the cleaning ladies come I can leave them to wipe the place and and run the vacuum cleaners and drive up to my cabin, just 50 miles away in the Blue Ridge Mountains, cross the creek and traverse up the ridge to the adjoining Appalachian Trail. Few people are hiking on week days. My just put some trout into the lake to join the bass, so the fishing will be better than ever.

On my neighborhood walks in the city the azaleas are bursting with color and the dogwoods are in full bloom. The cherry blossoms' petals are falling and fluttering in the gusts of wind evoking the wistful feelings the Japanese call mono no aware. Identifying migratory bird songs challenges the ear. PBS has a very good weekly drama akin in quality to Downton Abbey. The twice-weekly video calls to my girl in Japan have dwindled to once weekly. She's confined to her Akasaka apartment. She got a government loan to help her Ginza club survive, but she seems to be more pessimistic since Tokyo shut down. Fortunately she becomes more animated and playful when I call. She really loves to show off all the things she can do with that rubber cock I sent her. I'll soon have time to call more often.

Talk About Fucked Up!

I was going to post this on Jozz's blog [post 1100681], but I don't want to hijack her blog. I don't really want to post it anyplace, but I guess it goes here, at least until I get tired of looking at it.

I used to volunteer with organizations that worked with abused and neglected both in the US and some of the places where I worked overseas. I took on the toughest cases. It was brutal and frustrating despite my ability to decipher the system and occasionally make it work to the ' advantage. Everything was stacked against them. In many cases their best hope was to break loose from their dysfunctional families which confined them in crime-ridden environments, but the laws were written to prevent that.

In the US the default option seems to be prison (with 5% of the world's population we have 25% of the world's prisoners). I got a phone call 18 months ago from prison from one of my boys, now a man of 27, asking for help to learn a trade (personal trainer) while he was locked up. It was a sad case. His father had been shot and killed in the street next to an ice-cream truck before the boy was born. When he was 14 I had gotten the court to accept moving him to a boarding school in another state with a full scholarship, but his mother, who was living with a guy who was turning her boys into burglars, vetoed the deal.

I checked around and concluded that he was a good bet to change his life, so I financed his training. He started off well after he got out, got a job right away. But he got tied up with a woman with whom he had fathered a before he was put away, and things headed south from there. Soon they broke up and he was homeless. Against my better judgement, I continued to support him financially. Five thousand dollars later he had lost his job in large part due to the interference of the very probation authorities who were supposed to be guiding him.

Next thing I knew he had cut off the tracking device they had attached to his ankle and was on the run. He couldn't support himself with their constant bumbling and harassment and his own inability to make good decisions: like renting a stolen car off of Craig's list and getting arrested while job hunting in a city 100 miles away where he hoped to be able to make a new start in a safer environment for possession of stolen property, then getting jumped and robbed by the same gang that had burned down his grandmother's house while he was heading to the train station to appear for his stolen property possession hearing. He wouldn't go to the cops. His family is still living in witness protection for testifying against that gang.

If it wasn't for bad luck, these young people who get off on the wrong foot wouldn't have any luck at all.

Tricksters?

I don't know if I'm paranoid, or if Alt is really trying to get on my last nerve.

The latest Alt. marketing trick seems to be to have some female members with some sort of limited email capability. They can send emails to standard members, but standard members can't read them. I guess the idea is to irritate the recipient to the point that he takes out a gold membership so he can reply to these mysterious emails. Guess which fish ain't biting?

I've got a stack of emails sitting in my inbox from honesty2332, a girl in Brazil whose profile pic shows a magnificent pair of asscheeks. (Not sure why a Brazilian girl wants to email me... maybe she noticed that I speak Portuguese.) Flattered as I am, I don't think I'm going to make it to Rio for the Olympics this year. She's in Alagoinhas anyhow, and I'm sure I'm not going there.

Then there's someone called marie5842 in Wisconsin, who's even more persistent. She's been trying to email me since September of last year. Not sure what's up with that. I didn't drop my gold membership until last November, so alt is really trying to do a number on me with that one.

The list goes on, but you get the idea.

Anyhow, as Willie Nelson would say "... to all the girls I've loved before..." sorry about that, but if you want to reach me, you'll have to leave a note in my private mailbox on my blog Private Messages. Otherwise you'll just have to sit and wonder what the hell is wrong with this Dreamcacher__ bastard who won't even reply to his emails. lol

If you'd like to have more contact with other standard members, check out this blog. [blog HPiek] HP's Alt Guide for Newcomers, which will tell you all kinds of useful stuff, like how to set up your private mailbox on your blog.

These assholes are eventually going to piss us off. I know Americans are slow to anger, but this is just a tad ridiculous.

"These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country. . . . Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered."
Thomas Paine
The Crisis, December 1776

“Do nothing unless you know exactly what you will do if it turns out to have been the wrong thing.”

Dwight D. Eisenhower

Attributed to Ike by Murray Kempton as a guiding principle of Ike’s presidency
